MetaMask Setup Guide for Ethereum Classic
MetaMask is the most popular browser wallet for interacting with EVM-compatible blockchains. Follow this guide to configure MetaMask for Ethereum Classic in just a few minutes.
Install MetaMask
Download and install the MetaMask browser extension from the official website.
- Visit metamask.io and click "Download"
- Choose your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Edge)
- Click "Add to Browser" and confirm the installation
- Pin the extension to your toolbar for easy access
Create or Import Wallet
Set up a new wallet or import an existing one using your secret recovery phrase.
- Click "Create a new wallet" for a fresh start
- Or click "Import wallet" if you have an existing seed phrase
- Set a strong password for local access
- IMPORTANT: Write down your 12-word recovery phrase and store it securely offline
Add Ethereum Classic Network
Configure MetaMask to connect to the Ethereum Classic mainnet.
- Click the network dropdown (shows "Ethereum Mainnet" by default)
- Click "Add network" at the bottom
- Click "Add a network manually"
- Enter the network details shown below

Select Ethereum Classic from your network list to start using ETC.
- Click the network dropdown in MetaMask
- Select "Ethereum Classic" from the list
- Your balance will update to show your ETC holdings
- You can now send, receive, and interact with ETC dApps
Get ETC
Fund your wallet with ETC to start using Ethereum Classic.
- Copy your wallet address by clicking on it
- Purchase ETC from an exchange and withdraw to your address
- Or receive ETC from another wallet
- Always double-check addresses before sending

Troubleshooting
Having issues? Here are solutions to common problems:
Network not showing in list
Make sure you saved the network after entering all details. Try adding it again with the exact values.
Transactions stuck pending
Try increasing the gas price or resetting your account in Settings > Advanced > Reset Account.
Wrong balance showing
Ensure you're connected to the correct network (Chain ID 61 for ETC mainnet).
Can't connect to dApps
Make sure you're on the ETC network and the dApp supports Ethereum Classic.
